Hi Scott,
Thank you for posting here in our online help forum! Most in-flight WiFi providers block VPNs. They also block a specific connection that our app uses.
I'm sorry that this technical impasse is impacting you. Unfortunately, there isn't a work-around for this issue (other than uninstalling Covenant Eyes, connecting to the WiFi, and then re-installing). We also can't slow the start-up time for our VPN (because it would weaken our ability to monitor the device).
Best regards,
Sydney
I'm experiencing that same problem. Has there been a workaround or solution created in the last 3 years for those who frequently travel and use airline wifi for work? Thanks, John
Hello John.
Thanks for your question. I'm sorry to say that this is still an issue due to the nature of how our software functions.
If you have an Android phone you could see about having your filter disabled on an account level and see if doing so allows for a connection on the airplane since we only use the VPN on Android when the filter is in use. The Screen Accountability portion of the service would still be active and monitoring the device. You may need to have your Filter Guardian make this switch in order to try this.
However, if you have an iPhone then the VPN would be used full time regardless of filtering status.
