...maybe blocked from reinstalling - anything?

Mauri Macy

I uninstalled youTube trying to clean up some memory space, and now it won't reinstall. Could that be the VPN...blocking?

    Hello Mauri,

Thanks for your question. I'm sorry you are experiencing that frustration. Without knowing the specific device this is happening on, this could be caused by a number things but it really shouldn't be the VPN. If using an Android I would check to see if you have any App Lock settings engaged to prevent access to the Play Store. If using an iPhone I would first check in the Settings app to make sure the YouTube app itself is actually deleted and not simply removed from the home screen.

Assuming the YouTube app is deleted I would next check the screen time settings within the Settings app. Go to screen time, then content and privacy restrictions, then iTunes and app store purchases, then installing apps. Make sure installing apps is toggled to 'allow'. If that was the issue you should now be able to install the YouTube app.

If you have checked out both of these and neither is the culprit I might check to see if your phone is too full and some other app or files might need to be deleted in order to make room for a reinstall. If even that doesn't work I would encourage you to call in to our Member Care Team so they can investigate that issue for you in real time. They can be reached at 989-720-8000. Thanks again and have a great rest of your day.
