How do I change my Windows computer's name?

This article will show how to change a Windows computer's name with the newest Windows operating system, Windows 11. If you have an older Windows version, refer to Microsoft's support article.

Victory Shield™ lists your device in your email Check-in or the Victory app by its manufacturer name or model (e.g., Windows Desktop 2018). You can name your device (e.g., John’s Windows Computer) so it’s easier to identify:

  1. Right-click the Windows icon at the bottom of your desktop and select “System."

  2. In the System screen, select "About."

  3. Select the “Rename this PC” button.

  4. In the Rename your PC screen, type the desired name for the Windows PC and select “Next.”

  5. The computer may prompt you to sign in with your username and password and reboot to confirm the name change.
