How do I set a default browser on an iPhone®?

You can set a default browser in the Settings app on your iPhone® or iPad®. Once you select your default browser, links from text messages or emails will automatically open in it.

Before You Begin

• App Compatibility: To choose your default browser on your iPhone® or iPad®, you must have Covenant Eyes app version 5.4.1 or later.
  
  
• Operating System Compatibility: You must have iOS (iPhone® operating system) 14 or newer on your iPhone® or iPad® to select a default browser.
  
  
• Default Browser Recommendation: Since the newest version of Covenant Eyes is no longer a browser, we strongly encourage setting Safari as the default browser so we can screen-capture your browsing activity. 

Set a Default Browser

1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone® or iPad®.
   
2. Scroll down and tap “Safari.”
   
3. Tap “Default Browser App.”
   
4. On the Default Browser App screen, multiple browsers may or may not be listed. Tap "Safari." You're all set!
   

   If you have other apps listed here (like Google Chrome), we suggest you delete them from the iPhone® or iPad® and then set up Screen Time (Apple's free device controls) so the member cannot re-install them.
