Before You Begin
-
About Family Sharing: Parents can use Family Sharing to remotely set and control Screen Time (Apple's free parental controls) on their kids' devices.
-
Set Up Family Sharing: If parents haven't set up Family Sharing, refer to Apple's support article to do so and then return to this article to set up Screen Time.
- Set up Screen Time Without Family Sharing: You can also set up Screen Time directly on the child's device without Family Sharing, but you can't control their settings remotely.
Change Screen Time Settings with Family Sharing
- The parent should open the Settings app on their iPhone® or iPad® (not the child's iPhone® or iPad®).
- Tap "Family."
- Tap the name of the family member you want to change Screen Time settings for.
- Tap "Screen Time."
- Now, you will see Screen Time settings for the child's devices. We suggest parents set up Screen Time to control apps and content.
