Why did the Victory Shield™ app stop working on an Android™?

If the Victory Shield™ app stops working on an Android™ device, verify that the correct username is signed in, check the app version, and make sure there are no conflicting apps.

Check the Username


If another member is signed into the Victory Shield™ app on your Android™, all device activity will appear on the other member's Victory app Activity Feed or email Check-in.

 

To check what username is signed in, open the Victory Shield™ app and tap "Settings." Look at the top of the screen to view the username. If you want to switch users, read How do I switch the Victory Shield™ user on an Android™?

Check the Victory Shield™ Version


It's best to keep the Victory Shield™ app up-to-date, so you have the latest features and bug fixes. Check the app version on the Android™ and, if necessary, update it.

Check for Conflicts


Here are things that can conflict with Victory Shield™ on an Android™:

  • Operating System Update: If your Victory Shield™ app has problems shortly after an update to the Android™ operating system, uninstall and reinstall it.
     
  • Antivirus Apps: Most antivirus apps work with Victory Shield™, but review our list of incompatible antivirus apps.
     
  • Blue Light Filter: Many Android™ devices have a built-in blue light filter, which helps reduce eye strain. To see if you're using a blue light filter, pull down from the top of your screen to view your notifications and buttons and look for "blue light filter" (some devices call it "night light"). Disable the blue light filter, uninstall Victory Shield™reinstall, and turn the blue light filter back on.
     
  • Battery Optimizer: Most Android™ devices have a built-in battery optimizer or battery-saver that manages the device's apps to preserve battery life. Victory Shield™ constantly runs to monitor and protect you, so the battery optimizer may flag it. Please exclude Victory Shield™ from your battery optimizer.
     
  • WiFi Networks: Some parental control systems (like Disney Circle) or WiFi networks with security settings (like hospitals, schools, or businesses) can cause connectivity and filter issues with Victory Shield™. To see if the WiFi network you're using conflicts with Victory Shield™, temporarily switch from the WiFi network to cellular data on your device. The WiFi interferes with Victory Shield™ if the issue goes away when connected to cellular data.
     
  • Cellphone Provider Apps: Some cell service providers pre-install an app on your device with location monitoring, device protection, a VPN, a battery saver, content filtering, and/or time limits. These apps can cause Victory Shield™ to crash or have gaps in service—for example, AT&T's Secure Family app and Verizon's Smart Family app conflict with Victory Shield™.
     
  • Task Cleaner & Killer Apps: Task cleaner or killer apps try to save battery on your device by forcibly closing other apps. These apps may cause lapses in Victory Shield™'s service, so it's best to remove them.
     
  • VPNs: Victory Shield™ uses a VPN on Android™ devices to filter explicit websites. Android™ devices only allow one VPN to run at a time. Any other VPN (work-issued or personal) will conflict with the Victory Shield™ app, and you should remove it.
