How do I install Victory Shield™ on an iPhone®?

Before You Begin


Install Victory Shield™


  1. Open the App Store® on the iPhone® or iPad®.

  2. At the bottom of the App Store®, type "Victory Shield" into the search bar, and tap "Victory Shield" from the search results.

  3. Tap "Get" to download our app. (If you previously installed Victory Shield™ on an Apple device via the same Apple Account, you'll see a cloud icon with a downward-pointing arrow. Press the cloud to download Victory Shield™.)

    Downloading Victory Shield™ is free, but your device may prompt you to enter your Apple Account information to authorize downloading Victory Shield™. If you forgot your Apple Account sign-in information, please refer to Apple Support.

  4. Tap "Open."

  5. The App Store® will redirect you to the Victory Shield™ app. Tap "I already have an account."

  6. Sign in with your username and password and tap the "Sign In" button.

  7. Tap "Start Installation."

  8. Tap the checkbox next to "I agree to allow the Victory Shield VPN to monitor my activity" and tap the "Allow VPN Configuration" button.

  9. Tap "Allow" to enable our VPN. If prompted, enter your iPhone® passcode. You'll see a Nice, the VPN installation was a success! confirmation message.framed-image-0.png

  10. Tap "Allow Notifications," so our app can send notifications (don't worry, we won't spam you).

  11. Tap "Allow." You'll see a Now you're cooking - Notifications are now turned on! confirmation message.

  12. Victory Shield™ requires an iPhone® feature called Background App Refresh to run on the iPhone®. Tap "Fix Now."

    If you don't see this screen, Background App Refresh is already on for Victory Shield™! You can skip to step #14.

  13. Move the "Background App Refresh" toggle switch to the right to turn it on (the switch will turn green), and then tap "Victory Shield" in the top left-hand corner to return to Victory Shield™. You'll see a Now you're cooking – Background App Refresh is now turned on! confirmation message.

  14. Scroll down and tap "Open Safari Settings."

  15. Scroll down and tap "Extensions."

  16. Tap "Victory Shield."

    If the Victory Shield™ Safari® extension is greyed out, refer to this article to fix it.

  17. Move the "Allow Extension" toggle switch to the right to turn it on. After, an "Allow in Private Browsing" option will appear. Move the "Allow in Private Browsing" toggle switch to the right to turn it on (both switches will turn green).

    The "Allow in Private Browsing" option appears only on iPhones with iOS 17 and newer. If you don't have iOS 17 or newer, you won't see the option.

  18. Tap "All Websites."

  19. Tap "Allow" and then tap "< Victory Shield" in the top left-hand corner.

  20. You'll see a confirmation message that says the extension is on.

  21. [If you don't see this screen, skip to step #22.] If you have other browsers installed (like Google Chrome or Firefox), we suggest deleting them from the iPhone® or iPad® so you can experience screen monitoring in Safari®. After you delete them, tap "Check Again" and then you'll see a Looks like you got them all! confirmation message.

  22. Tap "Tap Here for Instructions" to learn about using Screen Time (Apple's free device controls) to protect our Safari® extension. After you set up Screen Time, tap "Finish Set Up."

  23. Tap "Got it" to complete installation.

  24. You'll see a pop-up about our free companion app, Victory. Tap "I'll do this later."

  25.  You'll see the home screen of our app, called "App Health." You can now close out of Victory Shield™ and use your device as usual. Victory Shield™ will use our VPN to monitor your apps, and we'll screen-capture your activity in Safari®.
